July 1, 2017 (Spring Valley ) – Two vehicles were struck in a drive-by shooting this evening near the intersection of Jamacha Road and Gillespie Drive in the La Presa area of Spring Valley, sending the driver of a white Ford Focis to the hospital, NBC 7 reports.

Witnesses reported hearing 10 to 11 shots around 5:17 p.m.  A witness told Fox 5 that he saw the white car hit a corner and rushed to help.  “I unlocked the door and he was riddled with bullets on his right side. The right side of his passenger door was riddled with bullets,”  the witness told Fox 5, adding that he used the driver’s phone to speak with a 911 dispatcher and applied pressure to the driver’s wounds until emergency personnel arrived.

"The vehicle had multiple bullet holes in the passenger side doors, fenders, and windows. The driver, and sole occupant, was conscious and breathing although suffering from obvious gunshot wounds," said Sergeant Scott Roller with the San Diego Sheriff. The victim was transported to Scripps Mercy hospital with what was determined to be non-lethal injuries. The suspect was gone from the scene upon deputies' arrival. The incident is being investigated as a possible car to car shooting.

The witness said the man was an Uber driver; Fox’s TV crew reported that they saw an Uber sticker on the shot-up vehicle.

Another driver told NBC 7  that he was driving home from work when his car was hit by a bullet, but fortunately he was not hurt.

The shooting occurred in broad daylight, with children playing nearby, NBC 7 reported.

The San Diego Sheriff is investigating this crime.
